Department of Mathematical Sciences
Welcome to the Department of Mathematical Sciences!
Our mission is to prepare students to meet the mathematical and computing demands they will face in their careers and as knowledgeable citizens. Through academic programs, research, and public service the department supports the disciplines of mathematics and statistics and the growth and development of educational opportunities in the Lowcountry.
We offer two undergraduate programs: (1) B.S. in Mathematics and B.S. in Mathematics Education (B.S. in Mathematics + minor in Education), and two undergraduate minors: (1) Applied Mathematics, and (2) Applied Statistics. We also provide a graduate program: M.A. in Teaching with concentration in mathematics (offered via the Zucker Family School of Education). Math Research Experience for Lowcountry High School Students (2nd Call)
A week-long (non-residential and free of cost) math research program for eight high school students will be held at The Citadel from June 13-17, 2022. Selected students will participate in problem solving sessions and learn about new mathematical topics. Topics will include Fibonacci numbers, numerical triangles like the Pascal triangle, and prime numbers, to name a few.
- Deadline to submit applications is May 18th, 2022
- Applications will be reviewed beginning May 19th
- Selected students will be notified by June 1
