Graduate Historical Society

Social and Professional Opportunities

The Graduate Historical Society (GHS) is the organization for students in the joint Citadel/College of Charleston Masters of Arts in History program. The group hosts professional and social events with both Departments of History and other student organizations. Building relationships and fostering a sense of intellectual community are key to your success in our program. Therefore, we encourage you to attend all society events. Some examples of yearly functions, hosted by the GHS, include an annual kickoff party at the start of each academic year, ghost tours during Halloween, and a Relay for Life team in the spring. Please join our Facebook group to learn more about upcoming events.

Citadel Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi

citadel phi kappa phi

Since its founding in 1897 at the University of Maine, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (Philosophía Krateítõ Phõtôn, "Let the love of learning rule humanity") has initiated more than 1.5 million members into its ranks; all of these members have received membership emblems and certificates. Each year, approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni are initiated. Currently there are approximately 100,000 active members. However, Phi Kappa Phi is much more than an emblem and a line on résumé. It is a global network composed of the best and brightest from all academic disciplines - a community of scholars and professionals building an enduring legacy for future generations.
